Red led flashing light on dash imobilser/ key problem?

I've had this problem since I've owned the car (9 months) it's a 172!

When I go to turn the car over the red led light in the dash flashes, I then turn the key back, hold the button in the key and turn it over agian and the red flashing light goes solid.. Then goes out and the car starts fine.

So days I get in the car and the light doesn't flash and starts fine but most of the time it flashes and I have to hold the button on the key and then turn it over.. ITS DRIVING ME MAD!! What can I do to sort this out?

What has worked for people with this problem?

Afew people have said it could be the ring receiver around the barrel that reads the key?

How do you resync a paired key? It's not a rolling code like days of old.

If the spare is also doing it then it is most likely a UCH fault.

What do I do to sort a UCH fault?

If you turn the car on then off then press and hold button on the key while turning the doors will not lock, works for me

I do hold the button on key and turn it and works fine but wana get this problem sorted so u don't have too

I know what you mean, I'm 17 so I'm just glad to have a clio lol but you have worked hard to pay for your 172 so you want it in tip top condition [emoji4]

It will most likely require a new UCH which isn't cheap.
