red number plate LED illegal?

You can emit red light from rear of the car, white light from front, and amber light for indicators.

If it doesnt do one of the above, then yes.

I had one on my last scenic for a long time, never had any hassel and was tailed by the police a few times. Just make sure its bright enough to light it up well. I'd say if you got a jobsworth cop though he'd maybe say somthing about it.

^^this is true, as long as it throws out enough light to read your numberplate properly
