refurbing alloys yourself

Not difficult, but potentially time consuming. The more time you spend the better result you will get.

depends how bad the wheel is. a quick scuff is all thats needed if the wheel is in good condition.

you will also loose all your finger prints on your dominant hand lol... i spent a week doing mine and that was slightly rushing! my hands were so sore and also make sure you mask up the tires properly otherwise its a nightmare to get any overspray off

It's easy so long as the alloys are in good nick.

The problem is filling in any scrapes or curbings and making it look good.

The key is in the preperation. Well prepared and you'll be sailing, if the primer is s**t and you've sanded it rough or wrong, it'll look gash.

I used filler primer to fill in the scratches. Takes loads of coats, prime, sand, prime, sand,... my wheels where in a shocking state though.

Also the final finish seems very soft and easily chipped compared to standard. I don't know how professional referbs stand up or how much you have to pay to have scratches filled etc...
