refurbing wheels?

those of you who have had this done, can you explain how it is done and what kind of damage can be repaired by refurbing them?

If one is done out of 4 wheels can you tell which one has been done, does it always have a different colour or texture etc?

so if someone had a kerbed 182 wheel and sent it for refurbing would it come back exactly the same as the others? same texture and colour?

Fred, how are the marks removed from wheels/filled in etc?
