Reg Plates

Dont know if anyone can help. Asked the DVLA some time ago about the availability of C110MPH (my initials at the end), and they said it hadnt been released but theyd let me know when it was.

How long is it likely to be, or can it be speeded up?

Er... perhaps just me being stupid but that plate must be an old C-reg right? If so how could it possibly be released now with the new plates coming out in the new format??

you can put a older reg on a new car but not the other way round !

Isnt there a CUP with the plate C110CUP?

My experience of buying number plates, tells me that C110 would have been an ordinary issue, as the ones sold by the DVLA are nos. 1-20 and either double multiples, 77 - triple multiples 777 - or plates that spell/almost spell something. They didnt start selling them until J reg (as far as I can remember) and went backwards so C wasnt available for a few years and C110 is an ordinary number. I have just had a look on the DVLA website and they only have C14/15/16/17/18/19 MPH for sale.

I know they havent issued it cos they mailed me some time ago to tell me, after Id enquired through their site.

But they wont respond to my mails asking when they might do so. I heard a rumour that if they had over a set number of enquiries regarding a specific plate (something like 50), they would then release it for auction. Clearly if this is the case, a few aquaintances may well become interested in the plate.

Also the more enquiries they receive about a plate, means that the cost will be higher because of the demand from the enquirers!

It might be useful to find out where the old *PH plates were issued and contact that local council and they might be able to tell you if it was ever issued.

Surely if it goes to auction, and only I turn up, I could get it for nowt. Or does it actually push up the reserve price.

There must be a way. Im sure if someone like Beckham wanted a particular plate, theyd issue it no question.

I think there would be a reserve price and if it doesnt fetch it on that day, they would keep it back for the next auction.
