40bhp from a remaps not bad!
Obviously will be a problem when the box shats itself.
I bought my wife her Clio 200 EDC with cup pack roughly this time last year, as standard I found it under powered. it really wasn't the performance I'd expected from best part of 200bhp in a relatively small car.
I eventually decided to say stuff the warranty and get it remapped. It did improve the car quite a bit and its continued to improve as the engine got some miles on it. It's not going to take your arms off with oodles of torque but Engine wise I'd say it was worthwhile having the remap done.
The box has been fine with the extra power. The box its self is capable of quick gear changes if you use it manually all the time. The problem it has is the software that controls it in auto modes. It's awful, in fact just about all the electronics on the car are poor if you ask me. Everything seems under developed and lacks polish.
Something I'm really hoping for is a gearbox remap. My GTRs gearbox also wasn't great when I first had it but once I'd had the box remapped it really improved the cars drive ability. The second somebody offers a gearbox remap for the clio I have no doubt it will transform the car and make it the car it strives to be.
People knock the gearboxes saying its spoilt the car, I disagree, the poor investment in software is what's killed it. Fix the boxes control software and get a few haters behind the wheel on the tracK and I think many will come around to the EDC... I've only used the car on the track once. This was when we were at a small local track with my GTR and the Clio was as much fun as my 669bhp GTR was if not a little more fun because it's quite a small track. These things have potential, they just need investment in tuning development to release it!
Unfortunately somebody has to foot the bill for tuning development. There's not many of these EDC 200s out there yet so we either pay or tuner have no reason to develop Remaps for us
