Remapping an N/A car?

Exercise in futility.

You'd be as well buying magic beans.

as far as gains probably, but to sort out the issues i have and to make the car a bit sweeter definately worth it

there's always one waving his turbo about

Sure Andy, makes the 20% of this forum with maps liars or deluded then!

Gains in terms of BHP are less than a turbo, but still plenty of gains to be had.

Still don't see the point in spending good money for minimal gains.

This isn't a turbo vs N/A thread, I'm just saying that remapping 172s is pointless. The engine's are excellent; bags of fun as standard and pretty well tuned. I don't see that they can be made to run all that much sweeter unless they've been abused.

As for a 1.4 , what's the point? It's still not going to pull the skin off a ricepudding.

you dont really know much in the way at all about mapping do you? your probably best staying on the same level of ignorance though, as if you did gain a clue you'd be embarrassed and who would we take the piss out of then? hows the entry level Audi treating you? :clown:

OK... so we dont see the gains that turbos do. Fine. But ive had a lot of mods done to my car (nothing serious) and can say that the one that was by far the most noticable was pauls remap. It doesnt just give you some bhp and torque gains, it completely changes the way the power is delivered which was all over the place before. So more bhp, more torque and a smooth power delivery.... how can you knock that !

Just a remap wouldn't give you huge gains but what if hes got a decat, zorst, induction, manifold match blah blah
Then a remap would make sense because it would be fine tuned to get the most out of his mods.

And what justin said ^^
