Remote central locking problems

Hi I have a S-reg mk2 phase 1 which is meant to have remote central locking.
The key fob has new batteries and if you press the inside locking button it all works.
But it doesnt work if you just press the key fob to lock all the doors.

Any ideas on what it could be?

Also if I was to get a new sensor out of another car would this need to be reprogrammed?

perhaps you just need to re-program your current key fob.
There is a method of doing it and has been explained on here a number of times.
Best do a search...

i had this problem with mine it ended up two of the prongs holding the battery had broke off and not holding the battery in place to make the circuit. i used blue tack lol as a bodge. worked fine.

Does the red light light up on the fob?

Hi yeah the red light does light up.

And I have tried to reprogram with no luck.
