Remote desktop for Mac

Is there a good free app I can load on my macbook so I can access my dads mac desktop (he'll have to download too).

The macs are not on the same network, so will be browsing over the net.

Mac OS has a built in VNC server which can be enabled from System Preferences > Sharing > Screen Sharing. Then you just need a VNC client. "Chicken Of The VNC" is a popular one (although I don't like it) and there are others.
Apple Remote Desktop can also be gotten FOC if you're that way inclined (better than VNC for a million reasons).
Or LogMeIn Free will do just fine.

Take your pick.

Logmein purely for the simplicity.

although ard is better in a million ways, you will need to set up a vpn if you want to use it on different networks - not worth the hassle.

I use VNC Viewer on my iPhone and it works really well, not sure if there's a version out there for MacBooks though.
