remote start (immobiliser)

  LY 182
Right, first off i did see the other immobiliser thread but that one started off on kind of the wrong foot so thought i would ask in a new one.
The problem i have is i want to fit a clifford remote start/alarm/imobiliser to my 04 1.2 16v, problem that leaves me with is i cant remote start with the standard renault imobiliser in the key
i've seen kits that hide your spare key under the dash but that seems a bit of a bodge to me and i have disregarded that idea straight away
next is the thing they sell on ebay to do away with it, again i'd rather not pay for something i can (hopefully) do myself
i understand you cant tell me step by step on a public forum but a few guidelines would be great poss a wiring diagram?
dont mind getting quite involved with wiring
cheers :)

You have to either put the spare key somewhere or tape a plip chip to the decoder ring, don't think theres any other way around it due to how the renault immobilser works.

just go the spare key around the ignition barrel well just the chip from it and bmh has said by the time you strap it up cover it in tape then put the casing back on it wud take ages for someone to brake in and remove it plus they would have to know, if the box that holds the chip is plastic you could melt the edges shut to as it would prolong if someone decided to break in, i was thinking on this but i havent sorted an alarm out yet

yer same here the chips taped to the reciever n hidden in the dash out of way, there is some one on here that knows how to bypass it do a search , but he wouldnt post it u`ll have to pm him

will have a search about but if anybody does know of who it was it would be great, just not really going for the whole spare key thing would much rather bypass it for good so i can then wire in the clifford immobiliser to the same circuits

the situation is they use the spare fob inside the car , then the cliford type alarm controls your alarm system and engine start ....looking at around 400 quid i recall including fitting

Just for your information.

If you by-pass the Renault immobiliser on your Clio, you invalidate the cat2 Thatcham status security on your car. and you must inform your insurers.

You would need to have a complete new cat 1 alarm system professionally fitted by a VSIB installer to re-instate the Thatcham requirement.

None of the remote start alarms are Cat1 and if you fit a remote start to a Cat 1 you invalidate its status.

thats the whole point of this post really i will be fitting it myself, i am a mechanic myself and dont claim to be a wiring genius but i understand enough to fit it, just the standard setup im having probs with.
i even tried to get wiring diagrams through work but renault wont even fax a registered company them so im looking pretty much screwed doing it the way i want to :dapprove:

There is no wiring diagram as such, the immobilser is part of the engine ECU.
The only external components are the code reader ring round the ign lock and the transponder in the key.

i thought the immobiliser was part of the uch? either way i dont think there's a way round it it took me long enough to get my codes matched when i did my conversion i would sudgest a key inside or leave it

The UCH is the body and cabin electronics control unit, lights, locks, heating and all that stuff.

The ECU or to be more accurate EMU is the one that contains all the engine management systems and the immobiliser code unit.

The two units do "talk" to each other for some functions.

It doesn't by-pass it. its a little box with a bit of wire that enables you to hide your spare key in the car so the immobiliser is always switched off, not clever in my opinion and definitely invalidates your insurance.

But the guy who is selling them doesn't care if your car is stolen, as long as he gets the suckers money.

And before the arguments start, phone your insurers and check this.
