Removing 172 Changer

  Turbo'd MX-5 MK4

can anyone tell me how to remove the changer from under the 172 seat (mk2 if it makes any difference) as i need to put my own in there this week.

Cheers,

Gaz

I have a MK1 and it looks to just be held in with a couple of screws, looks like you need one of those bendy screw drivers

its real easy, did it about 6 months ago to see how much room was under there.

there are a few screws that need removing (2 at front, 1 at back maybe) and then the metal tray that the changer is mounted on comes out. Then there is a single pulg to disconnect it, it was very easy and I didnt know what I was doing.

ill second that, well easy, 2 screws at the front and 2 at the back, metal tray will come out without having to remove the seat.

Tom, mine went straight back and plugged in without a problem.

I even had the stereo on without the changer plugged in for a few days too. Didnt give me any grief at all.

Cheecky_Chappie,

That isnt the one that comes with the mk2 anyway.. I thought the mk1 and mk2 changers were the same .. maybe not

The mk2 one is made by Alpine.
