Removing a headlight cluster?

Hello people its on a mk1 phase 3 so bubble shape headlight,

just had a stone go right through it so ordered a new one, gonna fit it tomo night but i quote mr Haynes says you need to remove the front bumper and bonnet?surely not?

or do you have to?as ive got like 2 hours tomo night to do it, so that its back on the road for tues morning for work!

Hi mate. You can get the lights out without taking the bumper off. Just takes a bit of persuasion. Basically just unplug the wires. Take out the four bolts and the little screw at the front, release the clips on top and fiddle with it till it comes out. It might take a bit of brute force tho.

Coolio man, i dont have long to do it so i really dont wanna touch the front bumper or bonnet, ive done it loads on other cars dont see why mr haynes is being so long winded!
