Removing ABS sensor

Following on from my ABS issue thread, I've found out my nearside front ABS sensor is at fault. The wire going in to the sensor it's self is frayed and very loose, so it needs replacing. I've searched around the forum and all I've really come across is how difficult they are to remove. I've not attempted to remove it yet but is there any particular way to remove them, i.e small screws holding it in place?

If worst comes to the worst and I break it trying to remove it, would it cause any issues trying to fit the new one?

Can be a paint to remove best off oiling it and any other trick you can think off.

SO long as you don't damage the hole or the screw thread you'll be fine if you destroy it when you remove it,

Can't you undo the screw and tap it out with the edge of something?

Undoing the screw is the easy bit (aside from the usual shagged head). For some reason they plastic of the sensor body is generally forced in so hard, you have to destroy upon removal - use a sensible size drill bit and then ream the hole, using plenty of copper grease when fitting the new one.

Lol. My biggest concern was like Edde said, damaging the thread in the hub so the new sensor wouldn't fit properly.

Just remove the fuses for ABS (if you can on clio's). ABS is s**t anyway.

Why not? ABS kicks in far too early and is properly naff when it's actually supposed to do you any good anyway.

Because the ABS system on the clios also control the brake bias. If you pull the fuse, you will have 50/50 split on the front and rear brakes. If you ever need to stamp on the brakes, the rears will always lock up making it extremely dangerous.

If you disable the abs via the fuse it changes the brake bias to 50:50.

The easier way is to disconnect a single rear sensor. Disables ABS and retains fwd bias.

Pretty sure Rob ran his track car with 50/50 bias most of last year with no issues. So can't imagine a standard clio with more weight over the back than a stripped out car, on normal roads would be that bad tbh.

Well think about it. Would you want a 50:50 split with a clio's weight distribution?

Probably not, but it would mean you wouldn't need to use your handbrake to get the ladies gushing in your local maccy's.
