Removing Plenum/inlets

  Golf GTD Mk7
I'm going to painting up the engine next month and was wondering if I remove them would i have to get new gaskets for head-inlet and inlet-plenum?

If so i'm guessing it would be a good time to get matched inlets and PTFE? Thinking about popping to CNC heads and getting them to do it. Is it a long job? They charge about 45quid an hour?

You probably will need new gaskets yes mate because the standard ones are likely to leak upon attempting reseal. If you go for the PTFE gaskets you should never need to buy any intake gaskets again as they are reuseable.

Drop me a PM if you want the PTFE gaskets.

Hard for me to say on the CNC heads front as I would use a recognised motorsport company such as Jamsport who use a Cosworth engineer to do their inlet work.

I think hill power are mail order only, I fitted their gaskets along with matched inlets and it has made a slight noticeable difference, however my RS tuner claims I have gained about 10bhp!

are they easy to adjust if it get the inlets matched? Presumably the gasket will need adjusting?

Basically its a single inlet that bolts straight onto the head, and IIRC incorporates a ITG filter as well. It gets rid of the crappy and restrictive standard item's you was going to send away for matching.

They have been working on this as a alternative to TB's. One of the benefits of this is that it keeps the standard ecu, so can be run with just a remap.
Single inlet FTFW in my opinion lol
If i wasn't gettin rid of the clio in August i'd definatly be having one.

woo! i supply the gaskets mate - it is nothing to do with hill power - thats just a misunderstanding following from my forum user name!

Full set of gaskets for 182 is £40 delivered.

The gasket can be customised (i.e. I can make you larger ports) however with any custom this does mean slight additional cost. However most inlets are gasket matched - any further than this is a waste as your head inlet ports wont allow for the additional.

And you can adjust them perhaps with a file but I would not recommend it. The gasket is too thin to work with properly - they are lazer cut in the first instance giving a nice clean finish - if you start messing with it you are likely to spoil the fitment/finish

just have a go mate its not as hard as you'd think, the only hard part to get off is the lower plenum but if you look on here i'm sure there will be a guide

Looking forward to do it, but need to save for the matching I think. Might as well get it all out the way in one go :) I'll see how much CNC charge for gaskets hill_power_clio and if it works out more expensive i'll drop you a PM. Presume its 40quid delivered?

No pics as to yet mate, they don't want to give the game away before its released, but it will look nice im sure!

Yes mate £40 delivered; thats for both gaskets (i.e. plenum and mani) and also x2 washers to go on under the plenum on the rear supports.

Anyone know how to get to side bolt on lower plenum as the spanner wont fit in the tiny gap?
