Removing rear seats help!?

  Clio 182
Sounds noobish but whats the best tool to remove those gold bolts which hold the rear seats in?

Thanks in advance...

If there the ones I’m thinking of you will need a big Torx-head socket bit. Pick yourself up a set from Halfords – useful to have in the tool box.

Sorry to bring up an old thread -

But where people have taken their rear seats out, what have you done about the holes left by the Isofox bar and seats? Put the bolts back in? I hate the way they are exposed under the car, and let's just say I got a little bit annoyed trying to get them out  I will have another look later when I've calmed down! :D

I've not had mine long and my rear seats are already out! It's quite simple really:

Before removing, get underneath the car, find the exposed end of the 3 bolts and soak them in penetrating fluid (wd40 etc). The outside 2 are on the leading side of the rear springs as you look underneath.

Use a 17mm socket and a T40 torx bit as mentioned above for the bolts.

Once the bolts are out, find a nut to run along the thread of the bolts. Then, take a dab of copper grease and clean up the thread of the bolts.

Insert them back into the car (work them back and forth if the thread is still a little stiff), then once they pop back through the body, get back underneath and stick a little blob of waxoyl on the protruding bolt to prevent them clogging up with too much crap again.

Simples!!

I put the bolts back in, but I took alot of the rust & crap off before they went back in, I also gave them a good coat of WD40.

Managed to shred the head on the 40mm torx bolt for the seats! So probably a drill for that one then?

Passenger side isofix bolt has been put in wonky by somebody else previously... :dapprove: That is not coming out easily! Not sure whether to drill that one aswell...

Any thoughts?

I thought that too, but it looks like the passenger side bolt is actually meant to be on a bit of an angle.

Rounted of the torx bit in the middle. Mashed 3 knuckes in the proccess and my rear seats are still in :(

I cant even get to my T40

It seems to be bang under the hinge for the seats

Theres 2, a gold and a black one further towards the back. Its the black one you need to remove. You can get to it from behind the seats one you take the isofix bar out.

Well, I say 'remove', but its more likely the black one is the one you need to attempt to remove, and end up rounding off after munching your knuckles :)
