removing rear trim on 182 bumper

Hi,
i was thinking of removing the black trim on the 182 rear bumper and the plastic underneath to let the air out (some people drill holes for this)
Has anybody ever done this?
assuming you'd need a hot knife or some such?

It just unclips from the inside buy pushing in the tabs with a flat screw driver easier to do with the bumper off.
