Removing registration plate?

Seems like a silly question, but the two usual "screws", or at least I thought they were screws have some sort of triangle head on them, do they just pull off or something? Or do I actually need a special screwdriver just for the numberplate?

I've got some fancyplates to put on and am surprised I'm stumped at this!

They are anti tamper screws. Usually put on by police and pcso's on police open days and crime awareness days. PITA to remove! Some needle nose pliers would probably do it though.

Finally got them off, right now I've also found sticky pads behind them so these are a right b**ch to get off, what is a safe substance that will get rid of the sticky layer that is left? I'm putting on velcro so need to ensure it's nice and flat otherwise it will just come off!

edit: Would seem like meths is one of the safer ones?

Get some tar remover (not sure which brand check detailing section) then you can use it for tar spots as well.

WD40 works wonders with sticky residue.

Got some Autoglym Tar Remover from halfrauds, wonderful stuff got it off in a few mins!

New plates look so much better.

I went for hard side, I imagine wax etc (if i used it there) would get stuck into the soft side.
