Removing scratches from lights?

Got hold of some ph2 rear lights and both have some fairly noticable scratchs/swirl marks on them. One is noticably bad around the indicator/reverse light area, to the point where it clearly obstructs the light being emitted. Christ knows how they have managed to do it.

Anyway, whats the best way to remove such marks from plastic. I dont have a PC so its going to have to be done by hand.

I've heard sand paper being mentioned but would that not just put more marks on the glass even with a high grit wet and dry?

could try using 600, 800, 1000, 1500 and 2,000 grit sand paper. Wet sand it all down and then polish back up?

Probably need a polisher to polish it back up after 2,000

I used plastx by hand on my rears to remove light swirls and it was fine, for bad marks you could try a ploishing pad on a drill if thats ll you have.
