Removing side strips including bumpers

  Suzuki Ignis Sport
i am wanting to DIY colour code my bumpers and my side strips, but how do i take them off?... as in i know that u have to open the door, and slide and pop out the side strips, but what aobut the 16v badge, does it just pop out if i slide it wen the middle section is off?..

and how do i take off the back bumper strip bit off and the front bit that is covered by the registration a bit in the middle?.. let me know, thanks :)

The 16v badges come off with the side strip. They are attatched by a couple of clips which you can then just push out from behind.

Nice one will be trying to take them out soon, do u knwo how much the can of spray will cost, and would i only really need to use on can?

I aint trusting halfords with their colour coding spray paints, they're useless, im going to bite the bullet and pay renault a visit!

If i do go to renault, do u know if the aerosols there they sell would work on the bumpers, or would i have to buy plastic bumper paint spray? and laquer over it?

Yup, they use the same paint on bumpers as on the rest of the car, just make sure you rub the ]black trim down well with a bit of 1200 sandpaper of something, or the paint will flake off.

Also, if your car is metallic, you need to lacquer it, or you wont get the finish youre after.

how big are the inserts?

im colour coding some stuff on my moms car atm, wing mirrors, side strips, fog surrounds etc. i aint using plastic primer on those as they aint that big.

ill just be sanding them down, spraying with some aersol high build primer, sand that down, basecoat, let it dry, then laquer.

I diy'd some door handles a while ago, gave them at least 10 coats of primer 10 coats of paint then laquer. They looked pretty good until they scratched and started peeling off. I really wouldnt bother again as aerosol paint is just too thin.:(

ive painted more things than i can remember with aerosols and had no problems whatsoever apart from the odd reaction/colour match.
