Removing Steering Wheel

  Yozza'd Titanium 182
I think this is the right section.

How do you go about removing the steering wheel?
Has anyone done this?

Help welcome

Disconnect the battery. Wait ten mins, remove uper panel from stering column, use flat headed screwdriver to remove airbag clips on rear, disconnect wiring, remove bolt using a T50 socket, then hit it top and bottom to get it to come off it's splines.

Think that's about right anyway.

Disconnect the battery, leave for 30 mins (being cautious)
Un clip airbag cover (2 clips, one on either side on back of wheel)
Unclip airbag connector and horn connectors, remove airbag.
Undo big torx job in the middle.
Thats from memory.

right 2 things 1... why disconect the battery for so long....

2 my passenger airbag has gone of as i hit a curb (which knocked my steering out)

so is there no risk of it coming off??

Haynes manual rec's 15-20 mins for the charge to drain so the bag won't go off. I've heard of them going of even when disconnected though.

Won't work in that case, the spline makes sure it can only fit on one way.

Youll need to repair whats bent on the steering and get it re-tracked.

Also removing the steering wheel and removing the airbag when one has already gone off maybe risky??

what a pain in the f**king arse this is!

right my steering wheel is slightly turned to the left when my wheels are straight.

when the garage fixed my wheel they said id need my tracking done, i cba spending any money on it i just wanna get rid and trade it in

Tracking will cost you about £25 for it to be laser aligned. Get it done before you sell it. don't trade it in, unless you wanna get ripped off.

Any decent place will make sure the steering is centred when doing the tracking, they will adjust both sides to compensate.
