Removing Sunroof

I want to get rid of my creaking manual sunroof once and for all. Has anyone attempted this?
I'm looking to fill it with a sheet welded in and prepped and sprayed from the other side with new headlining throughout.

Yeah, you can't do it the sheet metal is too thin and will warp if you try to weld anything in it's place. The only option is to reskin the roof, not a cheap job.
Just seal up the sunroof, I did mine properly and had no issues ever again.

Re-sealing it up is something that needs to be done, but if I'm not mistaken won't that just prevent the leakages, and not the creaking that occurs which I understand comes from the closing bracket?
