Removing the piece of trim above the glovebox

Hi Guys,

I'm not sure what to call this piece of trim - but has anyone ever attempted to remove the piece of coloured trim that sits above the glove box? Image attached.

Any idea what's involved in removing it?

Reaaallllyyyy simple

Open glove box. Put fingers on the underside of the plastic strip. Try to pull the bottom out & up at the same time. No screws or anything. Driver's side is the same.

If one were to, say, paint this piece of (I'm assuming) plastic - what would be the best paint to use for this?

use high build primer. Doesn't matter what paint after that but the paint flakes so easily after a year if you don't prime and laquer it properly
