Removing trim on a 172

  Megane R26

Well im new here. Been reading for a while. Got my 172 about a month ago.

Ive installed a new HU, now i need to run the cables for my amp. I know about the power cable run thru the gromet, but I need help running all cables down the passenger side.

I got part of the trim off by the seat, just tugged, off popped the bonnet release and was able to unclip most of the trim running down by the passenger seat. Now im stuck. It looks like I got take the rear quaters off to allow the rest of the trim to come off. Gave it a good tug, but no joy, can someone help me out? Pics would be great! :)

I didnt take off the trim just threaded it through, around the bolt and ran it under the seat. Much easier than taking off the rear quarters....

Cheers Blink, and for the welcoming ;)

When you say you ran it under the bolts, did you just push it under the trim? Can you see any expossed cables?
Aslo I gotta run 4g power cable

Yeah, pushed it under the trim (think it may have been my old car that was bolted) using a wire coat hanger to direct it. No wires are exposed and wasnt to difficult to do. One of the easiest cars ive ever had to wire. Changing the front speakers is a different matter.....

Ahh I see. I wanna clip it in the original wiring loom clips. Do you know if its easy to remove the rear trim ? Will the haynes manual for 2000 clios tell me? As bloddy haynes dont do a manual for the 172 :/

4g cable around 10-12mm diam!

  One with a few more

there is a haynes for 2000 on. as i have it. and all the interior stuff is pretty much the same idea for both normal stuff and 172s. its all pretty easy. just gotta hold youre breathe and tug. its actually quite tough compared to others cars ive played with

Thanks for the heads up claire. Gunna give it a bash after work. Stop by the local halfords and flick thru the haynes, maybe buy it ;)

i understand that there never has been a haynes manual for the renault sport manuals as i just went on and checked - is the other one still any guid? i think it could be worth the 18quid cost - any one else have it and care to comment?

oh heres the link for the catalogue http://www.haynes.co.uk/wcsstore/HaynesPublishing/images/cataloguepdf/CompleteHaynesCatalogue.pdfhttp://www.haynes.co.uk/wcsstore/HaynesPublishing/images/cataloguepdf/CompleteHaynesCatalogue.pdf

  not a clio anymore

the haynes are good in the sense that whatever is common (i.e most parts) will be described. It is just the specifics about engine, maybe suspension and a few other bits that are not there. I would expect interior trim to be the same between a 2.0 and a 1.2.

Well I ended up poping into Halfords and getting the manual. Didnt really need it. Trim comes off so easily.

Cable run was quite easy, although I had to drill a hole in the passenger foot well for the 4g power.

Have realised that the OEM speakers just wont cut it. I have to cut most of the bass from them when cranking it. So next job, 4 chann amp and coaxials in the rear , and components up front. Glad I ran the extra RCAs and installed my distro block :p
