Removing water marks from paintwork.

  Nimbus 197, Ph1 172
I've clay'd and polished my car 3 times in 2 weeks! But when looking across the bonnet, and across the top of the roof, there seems to be some very faint marks, almost like water or sap marks. The paintwork is smooth to the touch, and when looking at from a glance looks great. These are bugging me as the car is otherwise mint, and being a flame red ph1, i'd like to keep it that way. Possibly a fine compound and machine polish to remove them?

I'd imagine because ur in a hard water area???

The way I stop water marks is to use a quick detailer after washing the car and when it's still wet, this helps stop watermarks.

Also u can get them out by hand easily with SRP and a bit of elbow grease!! Use those arms boy!!!

They will polish out! Just make sure you dry your car off after washing and you should have these issues. As said it's probably the water in your area.

I'm contemplating. Using bottles of RO water  I suffer from the same but as said get around it by using QD.

my neighbours already think I'm mad

Polished, as in by hand ?

If they are proper grafted on, then i would suggest investing in a rotary and a polishing pad and polish, no need for compunding unless its really bad and theres always the risk of burning through and pannel warping with the rotary due to heat build up, believbe me ive been there, but M205 and a 3M yellow waffle polishing pad will give you good results and theres a lot smaller risk of paint burning as the heat buildup isnt as bad. It wont be cheap but then itll take you far less time and effort, with better results.

If its because of water when drying, use a QD as mentioned.

By hand, your best off using an abrasive polish, i wouldnt be suprised if youve been using Super resin polish as a lot of people do, its not very abrasive atall and is filler heavy, try meguairs scratch X (see halfords) that might make some difference.

Its not water marks after washing that im sufferng from im afraid. They seem to be a bit deeper than that, kind of more noticeable around the washer jets etc. I'll try and get a picture up. I use Meguairs carnubara polish, the one that smells like bananas. Gives a great finish. Have use of a rotary polisher, so will give it a go on the roof and see how i get on.

It must be to do with water and or rain..I have marks around my washer jets too which I can get rid of when cleaning.

Then when it rains and dries my car looks s**t as the rain dries off it :(

Certain products seem to cause this I have found as I switched to a different wax and it stopped.
