Removing wax before machine polishing?

  BG 182
Right, after hitting a wall and feeling I couldn't progress any further with detailing i've finally took the plunge and bought a DAS-6 Pro. I've got a mates van to practise my technique on, learn moving up through compounds etc and then i'll be moving onto the 182. I clayed, polished and waxed it a couple of weeks ago now and have since put another coat of wax on.

My question is, i'll be giving it another quick whizz over with the clay before i machine polish it, after this do I need to remove any wax or will the abrasives in the polish cut through it?

Any help/advice greatly appreciated :)

Your polish will remove everything mate, as the clay will with most waxes. Anything the clay misses the polish ill catch and leave a lovely base.

Use a pre-wax cleanser after polishing for added durability to the wax and a better base for any glaze/wax combo.

Something like Jeffs acrylic Prime.

Or a decent dilution of APC sprayed over the car. This will break down the wax and give you a good clean start.

I assumed the man would be washing his car correctly before hand, pump sparyer and some nice stuff inside! ;)

Great, clay then correction it is! Yeah I need to get hold of some cleanser, on the list for my next order! Wasn't planning on a pre-wash, just a jet wash and then the 2bm with a mitt. Advisable to go over with some APC in a pump sprayer then?

No i don't, i've got a karcher with the changeable ends though so i'll probably buy one in the not too distant future.

Ok, well it'll probably be next weekend by the time I get round to tackling the 182, want some practise first. Should be able to source some by then. Failing that, daisy?
