Serious question.
Are there ANY good Renault main dealers in the UK ?
Why are they so bad ?

Is it the shame of working for a French company, or do they have so many customers they can afford to p=== people off ?

i think the proper answer is no, cheap cars = no respect for dignty or for the owners, if you see what i am saying.

Customer comes, customer buys car, customers comes back for servicing, this is where it ends

There is no felxibility

There is a link for complaints on the Renault UK web site that I used. They reply the day after you e-mail them so no waiting around for ages to receive a letter. Cant remember exactly where it is on their site but I'm sure you will find it!
Oh and no, I dont think there is such thing as a good main dealer. I used to be in the trade and I know bad dealers REALLY are! ;)

There are some good ones. Unfortunatly with the low wages paid by garages and the fact the techies who are good at there jobs don't interact with the people on the dash since usualy reception don't have a clue what there lying to customers about that customers get frustrated.

Trying to get a teschie or good mechanic to explain whats up and why a jobs taken 10 times longer then it should isn't easy often. Why should garages get a techie off the workshop where there earning for the company £70 an hour for 10 minutes to tell you that those oil pressure seal master waher jets are worn when they have no idea how to explain it and don't wan to when 99% of the time the customer doesn't knwo or care if there telling the trought they just think car no here/car damaged/bill bigger than I want your wrong.

Would you as a mechanic being pushed all the time to do work all day want to explain to a customer why that stupid rattle they are hearing is a nackered oil pump and the cars off the road for a few days? WOuld you as a manager want said mecahci to spend 20 minutes trying to explain it to a customer who doesn't care about the intercasies of an oil pump design.

Plus if garage tell you yep its a common problem thats an admitance of failure of product which has other implications.

Renault dealers are franchise they claim there money from Renault UK so there just like small business trying to make everyone work harder for as little as possible till they either accept the way it is or leave by which tiem the dealership won't care they'll have worked them hard enough and make a decinet profit.

reception don't have a clue what there lying to customers about that customers get frustrated.

Spot on edde, 9/10 service desk, service advisers whatever you want to call them don't have a flipping clue, they're trained on the job and spend more time invoicing(sp) warranty jobs, or filing job cards, rather than getting trained up properly, dealing with customers etc. Most have no mechanical knowledge, if your lucky they might be an ex-tech/mechanic, but imagine if you asked them why your depashers gone bang, or any serious technical question. Most of them just blag your way through it, one day at a time. Also, some customers just aren't bothered, so why take a mechanic off a job earning the boss £60 an hour, to tell 70/80 year old Mrs Jones that her tank sender was replaced because.... When you could have a service desk person ushering out them to get the next job in. Not saying its the right way but sadly how its done.

As said, as with all big companies, not just car dealerships, theres always some 'big boss' sat upstairs finding any way to reel the cash in, not the the grafters on the shop floor but for the bigwigs. How many good sparkies are about nowadays? As in spot on ones, same with builders/plasterers?? I'm not saying all techs are spot on, I'm sure more than half are completely useless, but its not always them.

Edit - to be honest I don't know why anyone goes to Renault other than for a stamp in the book, or if your minted. Theres far cheaper specialists that can do the same job, but half the price, Ie Yozza, Rentech etc

ther are still many good mechanics at dealers out there , but its who you deal with and there attitude that depends on the service you recieve. most receptionists dont ask correct questions , talk to customers properly , but there are a few that do. its finding the good staff from the crap ones that dont care that is hard and goes for all trades. keeping them is key. but please, dont tar all mechanics or dealers with the same brush, and there are still (all be it few and far between ) good dealers out there .

I just accept it when I buy one, the fact that everything is going to be more difficult than a 'normal standard' built car.

Have you seen the service you get from some other "posh" car makes Suburu or Audi I've a few horror stories its the same thing with then. The Suburu delaership my parents use its incompetant and lazy beyond belief there product is there only redeaming feature.
