Renault Alarm Problem

Ive got a cobra cat1 alarm fitted onto my clio. Its the same alarm thats on 172s.

When I lock my car I have to wait at least a minute to open it again, otherwise the alarm goes off. Reason for this is because the alarm is programmed on the ECU.

When the alarm goes off and i try to reset, the LED keeps on flashing. I need to know the sequence to allow myself getting into my car without the alarm going off. Can someone help me please?

Just so happens I have the full installation manual with fault diagnosis on my laptop, 2 tics I will post up what the flash codes mean

as im about to get into my car. i open up the door and the alarm goes off. I close the door and press the button on the key. Eventually the alarm stops. I press it again about 1min after and the light is still flashing, which is telling me that the alarm will go off when i open the door. This is the bit where im stuck

Im back

When you disarm the system the led for the alarm will flash a certain amount of times if the alarm has been triggered

1 flash = Triggering by door,bonnet, boot

Just check the pin switches on all the opening parts of the car

2 flash = additional sensors

Dont worry about this unless you have a microwave sensor(probably not)

3 flash = Volumetric sensors

Check the sensors on the door pillars are facing the rear window and also that your heater vents are closed

4 flash = attempted start

The alarm thinks that the car has been started at some point

8 flash = serial siren error

Internal fault

On the alarms I have sorted out a few of the cobra ones have had an ingress of water into the siren.

Most of the stuff above is for dealer repair only, but if you tell them the flash code then they should be able to sort it.

If you need anymore advise pm me.

Hmm....I have had the same problem with my 172 as well. If I set the alarm and then unlock it and open the door within a minute the alarm goes off. A bit annoying if you lock the car, forget you have left something in it and try to go back in! I have learned to leave the car for a minute before opening it again. I think (I could be wrong though) that the central locking light on the dashboard goes out when the system is initialised? and it is safe to unlock it again. Im going to get them to check it when its getting a service in a couple of weeks time.

OMG!!! more people with the same problem as me!

I thought I was the only one!

There is any easy way around this...

Even within the one minute time frame, you can open the door without the alarm going off if you arm the system again with the door open and then disarm it.

When you arm it with the door open itll beep at you. Disarm it and all the lights will go off and the alarm never triggers.

Ive used this method loads of times now, it never fails.

Oh and stu74, let me know if they find a fix for the problem! Ill get mine done!

what so if the door is open after the alarm is going off. press the button once to arm it and again to disarm it. is that correct?

done a few similiar faults at work lately with cobra alarms not disarming.everytime its been the alarm ecu.you need to visit your dealer as they have to contact cobra for an authority code to do it under warranty.

No, the alarm never goes off.

If you close the door, alarm it and then unlock + open it again (because you left something in the car by accient), the alarm doesnt go off instantly - does it? It doesnt on mine. It goes off after a few seconds. Before that happens - i.e. as soon as you unlock + open the door, arm the alarm system again. Itll beep to say erm... you cant arm me now, the door is open and then when you disarm it, the alarm will be totally off.

The pressing once to arm and again to disarm is right, but there is no alarm going off bit.

did one today.if you arm it with a door open the alarm beeps to tell you the door is open and you can disarm it but if you shut the door and arm it then it wont disarm.think there must be a faulty batch of ecus as the ecu was faulty on this one as well.
