Renault Clio Gordini gearbox issue

Hi all,

I have a 2010 gordini and am after a bit of advice please. I tried to contact k-tech but they don't give advice over the phone and I can't really pop over and take the car for them to have a look, so I'm having to find a garage someone a bit nearer to home.

My issue is when I put the gearbox into 4th it makes a clanging sound that sounds like something is worn. The clutch is fine it that it's not slipping and it will go into 4th and stay in.
The gearbox and clutch are the same age of the car so both are over 10 years old.

I'm hoping it's just either a bearing or linkage that needs replacing or is it a full gearbox out and replace?

Assume its the common gearbox synchro crunch? just a grind as you select the gear?

Yes just a grind when selecting the gear

Yes very common for the synchros on 3rd and 4th gear to fail over time. Requires a gearbox strip down and synchro replacement
