Fitted to my 182 ^.

I read uptake was slow, but it always was on the 172 too. At £1500! (same system, based on VDO MS5000 but branded carminat) Same as they use on other renaults.

Fantastic system especially with the tmc disc in so it gets live traffic info and directs you round jams. (extra £200 cd map which renault refunded as their map doesnt offer this)

Afaik they pulled this option back end of 2004. IMO due to them running out of parts for it and not worth buying new stock in when they are likely to need new kit for the new Clio.

You can nera on perfectly fit a VDO MS5000 system and make it look factory fit, costs about a £1000 with everything and a PS2/DVD, fairly easy to fit, Im doing another one for a friend of mine soon.

my dad has the sat nav in his 172 (factory fitted colour one) is there any way it can be linked up to a gps based radar detector?

or could we get the sat nav to tell us camera sites etc?

we were just wondering, as we dont know much about it.

cat, no i dont think there is a way of it doing that. And it wouldnt cover laser anyway, hence I have a road angel 2 as well.

It is based on the VDO ms5000 which can have a multimedia input like MIke has done above, but afaik nothing can be linked up as regarding cameras etc.

Questions answered as follows

PS2 is mounted in place of the CD changer under the passenger seat, keep the changer mounting bracket as it will hold the PS2 in place just perfect.

The Nav computer is in the glove box with a proper surround to hold it in place, you can still store the odd thing in there as well.

The multi-media module is mounted under the glove box with a couple of short lenght self tappers.

GPS aireal is mounted on the rear parcel shelf.

I found it best to keep the whole lot close together for easy install purposes.

And all sound can be run via the head-unit.
