Renault Service

I can't believe this.

A couple of weeks ago the car went in for the 5th and final time to get the engine temperature sensor fixed, as they didn't look at it until late in the day and then didn't have the parts I had to take the car back the following day at my inconvenience.

This morning I dropped the car off again, this time to get a knocking engine mount done, the usual 182 fault. I've just had a call to be told they have modified it for now but it needs a new mount and can I take it back in!! I can't have another courtesy car as I've now had one 7 times this insurance year and they won't let me add another one without paying £27, which I'm not doing. Plus they reckon it's an hour long job, so I said between 1 and 2 is fine as I'm on lunch, so are they.....so how about before work, which is when I train and I'm sick of missing out on going to the gym because of my f**king car. AAAAARRRGGGG.

I think I'm going to leave it knocking and wait for it to drop off.

Why is the Renault ownership experience one f**king massive ball ache?

I own it's not the best thing in the world, but you could ask them to pick it up from your work and bring it back? (because of all the ball ache)

but then again you don't really know who's going to be driving your car?? :(

If they will drop me off at work, then come and collect me I'll go for that, if not they won't be seeing my car ever again.

You tell them Lee!!

It's not fair though, isn't the Trophy the 2nd car you've had off them? I mean you've been a good customer to them and this is the thanks you get in return?? WTF?

Yeah, this is the second car in as many years.

I'm absolutely fuming. I was in a foul mood as it was, but this just adds to it.

Most Renault places have a driver that drops off and collects customers for this said reason ...

Hope you get it sorted Lee

Maz :)

Ps - chill the fcuk out or you will blow a gasket ... lol ;)

They don't have a driver, I had to blag a lift with the bloke who looks after the car park last time.

Right, I'm off.

I've been thinking about getting my Cup in to get the knocking engine mounts done soon, I keep thinking it may not be worth the hassle and you haven't reassured me!

Drove past the birmingham dealer at lunch and on way home tonight! Kept an eye out for ya Trophy but couldn't see it!:dapprove: Nearly crashed whilst lookin! Ha!

how do I check the engine mounts? I'm worried :(

I get confused with whats what. Is the engine mounts thing the knocking when stepping off the gas at low speeds, and then the strut mounts the knocking on full lock?

I was under the impression there was only a fix for the strut knocking, not the engine knocking (at least thats what some guy said here)

Yeah that's the ones. The engine mount knock is more a small tap noise when you lift, or in my case, all the time now!!

The strut top one is more of a clunk.

They did the exhaust, as one of the seals had split! And they checked the gearbox mounts and engine mounts and as I'd told them, it was the offside engine mount. It's going in Friday to be done and I'm having to wait with it.

OK strange question - what happens if you don't get the engine mounts done? How long can you leave it before it becomes really vital?

Mine has had 3 strut top adjustments and it still does it. Kitchens of Burnley have no idea.

I wondered that, mine have been like it for ages and will stay like it until Friday. I guess having one not doing it's job properly puts stress on the others. On my old 182 it just required an adjustment, on the Trophy they reckon it's got to be replaced, but didn't say why!!

Maybe I should stop thrashing it for a couple days until it's done........then again, maybe not.

Why should you stop? You bought a sports car not a granny carrier

I meant until they replace the mounts, which is on Friday.

But then it didn't stop me trying to kill it with pure anger all the way home.

Well other people have been told its a "characteristic" of the car when we've previously discussed this and therefore Renault haven't fixed it, so I assume/hope that its not actually a major problem.

I'm booking mine in to get engine and strut mounts looked at soon (may as well whilst its under warranty) but I honestly don't think they will be fixed permanently.

I had all the usual faults on my 182, and all the fixes that were applied worked a treat....eventually.

  Yaris Hybrid
I stuck a piece of innertube rubber in my engine mount (top left of engine when facing the front of the car) and it has pretty much stopped the knocking. Got my car booked in for its first service at the end of Feb and I too want to know if its worth telling them to fix it properly?

I really am quite happy with the car and could very well keep it long after the warranty expires so I am wondering if it is worth getting it fixed properly.

This is how Sutton Park fixed it on my 182.

I've not looked what Renault Birmingham have done as it's not fixed it, so they've ordered a new mount.

The black bit has been adjusted and packed with a grease. That cured it on my 182 but hasn't worked on the Trophy.

In that pick have they not added a square piece of rubber under the mount on top of the U-shaped bit?
