Renault Sport Modus!!!

Anyone see this in last weeks Auto Express???? Have been reading it at work today,its in with the article about the RS Megane Coupe. Had a picture of a Modus with 2 holes in back bumper, they recon they are doing a RS Modus based on current 182 but my theory is (which is why this post is in Clio Discussion) that they are developing the 182 replacement chassis/engine in a Modus body so that they can get plenty road testing without the Spyshots??? As the Modus is based on next gen chassis/engine.

Im no expert but that just looks like a lowered modus with different wheels on front to the backs. The 2 holes are for a bike rack that you can get for the back that slots in.

Plus (and this is for all you budding kojaks) the modus isnt built at dieppe where that pic was taken. so why is it there

I wouldnt like to cast much of an opinion on this but I personally dont think they would develop a 182 replacement under the disguise of a modus.

If your going to develop a chassis you wouldnt want to using such a big shell would you, the height of the modus body would actually hinder any development I would have thought......just thinking out loud here.

As for the point about the different wheels on the front to the back on the modus in the picture.......I remember seeing a Bentley parked in the factory car park with four different wheels cos thats all they had and needed to move it out of the factory.

Mules are used for all sorts of things.

A montego van was used at jaguar a few years back to test the drive train of the xk8.

The suspension setup could be run in the modus to perform specific tests on the hardware such as durability and climate testing.

i suspect they are on the verge of offering an RS modus as theyll probably think theres a market for it similar to the zafira (tho smaller)

yeah its prob an rs modus model as- R20 cwh said like the 2.0 turbo zafira should be cool if its true!! but it will prob only be a 2.0 N/A like the 172/182 should go pritty well tho! but we could all be wrong
