I was surprised the amount of people with replicas on here tbh.

A lot of money on those cars.

Mines was half finished. I didn't mention anything to the insurance.

This, I told them it was an option from Renault (I remember seeing it in a brochure they used to have), and they told me anything that was optional doesn't add onto the car!

Renault had an option to replace the front wings, bumpers, side skirts and wheels with RenaultSport items?

Wow, lets hope you don't make a claim.

Really? Surely you have to tell them? The panels are more expensive to replace

im insured by quinn direct and basically they let you do anything to your car aslong as it isnt performance enhancing then it doesnt cost any more so body kits alloy wheels light upgrades etc dont affect it.

None of those options, if I had gone ahead with the rep I would have told them I had changed panel x with a different standard renault item. I wouldn't of mentioned the word sport.

If i was doing a rep i would say front sport bumper, rear sport bumper and sport skirts.

Not body kit imo - Thats a chav halfords thing that would make them see red.

I plan on putting a rear sport bumper on, and im having the front inserts colour coded. Bell said the colour coding all round was already noted and to phone them up so they could note down when i added the sport rear.

  1.2 Dynamique billabong
im with brentacre which allows unlimited cosmetic modifications so i have declared everything, even colourcoding etc its free to add more mods, you dont have to pay an admin fee or anything so would be silly not to declare something, only to find out your insurance is void when you stack it into a £60K bmw.

also they actually know stuff about cars, rather than most insurance call centres that are in ninjobingo or where ever. so you can actually tell them all the specific parts and they understand what you are going on about.

if you happened to crash surely they'd assume you drive a standard dynamique rather than pay out extra for the mods needed to make a rep.

As far as I know normal insurance company wont replace modified parts with modified parts, they will only be replaced by standard parts

I'm with Quinn and anything cosmetic I don't have to notify them of, anything performence related I do.

Mine's half finished and I won't be telling them about any of the kit to any insurer, I was told that if any parts (non-performence) are genuine manufacturer then it doesn't make any difference.

Only thing is...If someone had a crash who had sport parts, they'd only get non-sport replacements...So don't crash!

Quinn said they weren't interested when I told them I'd changed the bumper/skirts for renault ones.

My car looks nothing like a Renault sport Clio anyways. (For me in the know anyways)

I have told my insurance about putting turinis on my 182.

It didn't effect my premium as they are 'Renault' items. They are still declared though... as are my painted calipers/braided lines/uprated discs/pads and all the other miniscule things i have done.

I have only done this as im with Flux and they have a bad reputation when paying out. At least this way they can't get out of it as i have told them everything.

A word of advice, speak to the right insurance companies and disclosing cosmetic modifications will not make any difference to the price you pay! It never ceases to amaze me how many people do not disclose mods so therefore drive around without valid insurance.

Yup, modifying my car actually brought my premium down... By loads!

Boosh who are you insured with now ? Flux still ?

Edit, yep flux. How much ?

(Sorry didn't mean to turn it into an insurance prices thread)

If I was an insurance company I would wanna know if you car looked exactly like a higher spec/superior model (not meaning to offend anyone) as i would imagine it increases the chances of it being stolen by c***s who think it is an actual sport.

My cousin works in manchester a few of colleagues had R32 golfs and all of them were car jacked!!! So if you had a 1.6 golf R32 rep then you would have a greater chance of you car being stolen than if it looked standard!

Ive Left the 1.4 badge on it, they wunt have much chance of getting away, i think i cud probably run fasta than my car takes off!

Just remembered I put it down as an optional body kit with confused.com,
When I went to Flux I explained all the removable panles (Skirts, Wings, and Bumpers) had been replaced with Renault Clio 172 items.

  1.4 16v soon 2 be 172 rep
I got told as long as its genuine renault parts they will pay it because its not an aftermarket item... But insurance always find a way to get you done...

What are your thoughts on it being a Moral Hazard when quoting?

I think its a very grey area, for example, how would you know if you had uprated shocks fitted if thats how you bought the car?

I think in a full replica situation its a bit more obvious.

exactly. You could by a 172 for example with eibach proline springs. Now, these are black, pretty much o.e height, no real way of telling. What happens then?

And lol at painted calipers.
