renfort plate

  Clio 172
OK so I seem to have the common sirclip problem. Priced up a new diff and clip, which I didn't find too bad. I've also seen a renfort plate idea. Seems to have good feed back and less effort than taking the box out. What's involved fitting these plates.

Thanks gaz

Drain the oil out the box and stuff some rags in to the gearbox. Offer up the plate and mark the holes. Drill and tap the holes to the correct size. Remove the rag and pray nothing's gone inside the box from drilling and tapping. Refit driveshaft, refill with oil. Job done.
You could always cover the rag in grease to catch the drilling chips.

Cheers mate, sounds straight forward. Still dancing a new diff body though. Need to make up my mind. Thanks
