Reno parts on factory back order

Had an incident in the 172 not so long ago which, among other things, requires a new roof skin to be fitted. The bodyshop that are dealing with it say that this is on factory back order and they can give absolutely no idea how long it will take to arrive. At first he was saying it could be three weeks or it could be two days. However, today he started banding around figures like two to three months!

I really, really dont want to have to wait that long. Can anyone give me any indication on how long these things generally take? Or is there a reno number that I can call to at least try to chase this up? Im guessing Ill get no where wih this being reno and all but Ive got to try something...

The truth is not even the parts departments actually know when stuff is going to arrive, they can normally give you a pretty good guess from some stuff but not the parts that are on back order from the factory.

what did you do that requires a roof skin??

How about putting a dynamique roof skin on and adding the sunroof? (as a last resort obviously)

Will loose strength and regidity (sp?) with a sunroof hole.

Yeah, I realise that Pete, hence why I put as a last resort.

I mean, 4-5month wait compared to "potentially" less rigidity, gotta be an option?

hes right, i did that

ring Renault customer service and ask them when the parts are likely to arrive, tell them your going on holiday or somethin in a few weeks and you want to make sure everything is totally sorted out by the time you get back

my parts arrived at the bodyshop the very next day, possible coincidence?....maybe.....

Cool. Have you got a number for Renault UK that I can use? I assume you simply rang up and said Im waiting for x part which has been ordered by so and so garage and they were then able to find the parts? Or did you need to ring up with some sort of order reference number?
