Rep or Not to Rep

  1.4 Dynamique
Hey guys, Been a member on here for quite a while but havn't really been active been doing alot of reading just not posting.
Thought the time has come to change that :rasp: selling my 02 clio tommorow and looking at getting a newer one.
Been a student and 19 can't afford the insurance of a 1*2 but would love a rep.
Can't decide if I should just buy a standard clio then do it myself, or try and find one already done, also if anyone has a rep for sale I would be more than intrested, Anway just thought id say hello
:)

As above really, I wouldn't waste the money. For the money you'd spend buying the kit and getting it sprayed etc you could easily buy a 172. Better off either not bothering or getting one already done.

It is quite an expensive job, and looking back the money that has been spent could of easily bought a mint 172. But looking at the car i dont regret it one bit as i know insurance on a 172 is going to be through the roof and all the work to the rep i put in myself so is worth it :)

At the End of the day its up to you, If you really want a rep and want to do so as cheap as possible then it would be better to buy a pre-done one. The majority of reps {well on CS} are in superb condition as owners have spent alot of time and money repping them.
If your looking to rep just for the experience/ fun of it and have the money then do it yourself as you WILL appreciated and enjoy the car more.

Yeah, My mate got a rep off here, its in mint condition, so hopefully ill be able to snatch one up off here.
I would like the experiance of doing one, but probably easier if I just got one already done... Now to find one, been looking everywhere,
Cheers for the advice :approve:

I wasn't going to rep mine, but after seeing another members in the flesh I couldn't help myself!
Thoroughly enjoyed doing it and I'm uber pleased with the result! :D

(Oh and I'm not even looking at buying a "real" clio sport in the future!)

It really isnt that expensive..

You can get skirts for £50, wings for £60, and say bumpers for less than £200(pair)

Then spray them £400, so its costed about £710, which is much cheaper than a 172.

ive spent way more than the cost of a 182 never mind 172 to get my rep where it is but that is including a 182 engine aswell, only regret i have is i chose a french car to splash my cash on and not somthing that stays fixed for longer than a week.

anyone says its a waste of money to me i just say my cars 'built not bought' and has been all of my own work :approve:

^ true, but how have you spent that much tho?

i have spent around 5k since i bought the car, that includes engine conversion etc over a period of 3yrs,

Having the naughty and living with it, I personally wouldn't. You get baited all the time on the roads, people are always like 'is that a 172?!?' and tad embarassing saying it's only a 1.2 for me. Reasons go on and on.

PM me if your in need of a full 182 kit.

That is a downfall, but when mine was just a 1.2 it sounded like a sport but was crap on power, thats was one of the reason i dropped a sport engine in, now i have the power and the looks

Aye, I can't bring myself to get a prospeed etc on it because SCREAMING past things on a dual carriage way doing like a quarter of the speed it sounds like definatly isn't for me!

I'd rather a 182/Trophy than any rep with a big engine. The offset of the wheels in the archers, rear discs, alcantara interior etc, i'm going to just buy the standard car.

But with putting in the engine yourself you get the pleasure of drivings around ( at speed ;)) knowing that all of it is your work and that you made it into somthing unique.

Can see both sides of the story though, all depends on weather you want to put the eoffrt, time and money into doing a rep or weather to buy the real thing.

If I was going to do what you've done tonksy which I was seriously considering I'd personally want to keep it looking a non sport that way you would surprise people, you could still put in the 172 running gear/wiring etc but then it's the cost situation that's why I've scrapped the idea.
