Respray ideas/colours wanted

  BMW 320d Sport

Im still deciding on what colour to have my Clio turbo resprayed. Ive junked the idea of a same colour respray cos its boring and Im fed up of people asking if its a Williams. But it still has to be blue. So the main things Im mulling over are these:

Stick with a metallic, or go for a flat/solid blue instead? (Flips and crazy lacquers are definitely not on the menu BTW!)

What shade of blue - light, dark or medium?

Im thinking about Subaru blue, or theres Mitsubishi and Peugeot colours that are similar, nice metallic bright mid blues. The darker classier blue metallics caught my eye but theyre a bit boring - the best darkish colour is Ford Imperial Blue but every ST200, Fiesta Zetec S and Focus RS is in that colour. Then Saturday night we saw Tims valver at Southend in a crazy turquoise/pastel blue/green flip and it was a gorgeous colour. I wouldnt want the flip but I do like the idea of a baby blue valver, maybe going as dark as the new solid mid-blues seen on Fiats and BMW M3s.

So anyone got ideas? Or can anyone photshop a valver so I can see what different shades of blue would look like? Ive got tints as well and my wheels are gonna be dark anthracite.

Royal Blue like mine? Straight Blue.. not metallic.

Or do you wanna stear away from Standard Clio Colours?

What caught my eye, Seat Leon Cupra R in Blue.. dunno what shade it is, but its MINT.. or that Lexus IS200 Blue... mmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

Personally I reckon Cup blue (dont know actual name) would look very nice.

Different, fresh and still keeping it Renault.

Hmm, I think I would steer away from Standard Renault Colours if I had a full respray.. its gotta LOOK different I reckon..

Seat Leon Cupra R Blue.. mmmm.. Go for it.

Its monodial blue :D

And Nick anything but white as white is for special people.....

Mum mum told me I am special ;)

definitely metallic imo, i like the cup colour, and im now going off all the flip stuff that i used to like on tvrs. stay away from any flake type crap, ive never seen that look good, but a nice deep metallic would be good (deep as in the paint looks deep, not the shade), i think a lighter shade than monaco would be the way to go, it would suit the wilder look of the car without going ott

nick,
Mondial blue will look awesome but i think it may have been done already??
Im really liking all the solid (kinda) colours, not matt, but not mattalic, im sure u know what i mean, in a kinda baby blue!

How about the light colour blue on the new Mini or are you after something darker?

It would look the dogs in the sunlight .

The subaru blue is gorgeous. Thats where my vote goes. Someone on here has there kitted up Clio in that colour. Have a search for it to see the colour on a valver.

Well loads of ideas, cheers everyone. So lets go through it...

Definitely dont want a standard Renault colour. Well not a Clio colour anyway, so that also rules out Cup blue - I like Cup blue but its one of those colours like Imperial Blue that I instantly associate with a particular car - not mine.

The Lexus IS200 blue is nice and deep, I dont know what the Seat Cupra blue is, Ive only ever seen them in yellow, red or black! Is it a solid, not a metallic?

I was thinking of monaco blue, to kind of update my sports blue, its just that slight bit cleaner. But if Im paying good money for a respray I want a colour that WOnt look like a Williams.

I dont know what this Mondial Blue is and I dont know what the Mini blue is either. Anyone got any pictures?

The only thing thats keeping me off Subaru Blue Mica is that Marcus already has that same colour on his crazy Clio. Now I know mines not gonna look the same but I just dont particularly want to have the same colour. I seen a blue thats similar on a new Yaris and a 206 and 406 which might look good. But every time I see a car in solid turquoise or baby blue it looks wicked.

Have a look at some of the classic French racing blues that were used over the years. Just as there were many shadres of BRG, there were a lot of different blues used by the Frogs. Im sure one of them would be fitting.

Now this is more like it! I like that Pug colour but its just a *little* bit too green for me. The forum blue is very similar to the solid blue on the new M3 which Ive just looked at and I still like it, similar to that Audi blue as well. That Leon blue is nice but doesnt quite cut it for me.

I know I said I didnt want a flip, but just for a laugh I looked at the Rage paint website and theres a bloody nice shade there which is called Surfers Paradise. Dont ask. But its wicked, light blue/turquoise and not a crazy flip, it just changes between two very close shades of blue.

I read in the May edition of Max Power that either matt finish or pastel shades are going to be the next in-thing for car colours - with colour-coded alloys!

So how about baby blue, ice pink, lemon yellow or mint green?

Or how about BenRs fave "two-tone" colours?

;)

Colour-Coded Alloys? Pastel? Uh, No.

What ya need is a nice dark, deep blue.. haha. Forget what the mags say, listen to Daz.

Nick

go to http://www.mini.co.ukwww.mini.co.uk

Have a look on there site at the various Minis

and tell us what you think of the light blue mini colour (it has a white roof)

Dunno what your interior looks like but some shiny alloys on and that will look the dogs, much better than all those darker blues, you want something that will stand out, very few minis have this shade of blue, give us your opinions.

nick poppy coral blue mate its a wicked pearly colour

but i got a idea for you hear me out its a wicked colour and different from every valver out there

its the grey/metallic on the brand spanking new audi tt not the old plain old silver but grey.

wicked tone mate think u should take a look at it before you blow it out

now u know how much im like blue but if i were respraying a car it would def be that colour

The best blue with-out doubt is whatever the T3 version of the Escort Cosworth was in. That blue is wicked. Dark but shiney and makes any car look like its worth 10x as much as it would in another colour for some reason.
