Retention cert

I'm in the process of selling my 172 and need to remove the private plate which is currently on it. I under stand that i need to apply for a retention cert from the DVLA which is usually about £80, but what happen about getting a new reg number for my car?

Do the DVLA issue me with the old one?

  53 Clio's & counting

Yeh mine ahve been replaced with teh original reg.

And it cost me 105smackers to do it about 6 weeks ago!

Can take a while mind you, i was lucky and it took less than 2 weeks but can take upto 8 i think it is!

You should get the same plate back only in extreme cases they will give you a different one and also retention is £105 for a year

Retention is £25.00 per year, the transfer fee is £80.00 - so the cost of £105.00 will give you a year to get it on to another car, or you've got to pay the £25.00 again if you don't you'll lose the plate.

  on the look out
damm rite rip of if you ask me charging you £105 everytime you change cars sometimes it takes up to 8 weeks .it was a pain in butt when sold our a-class waiting for it to come back
