returning tablet to manufacturer for repair, does this sound software related?

Bought a 7" acer iconia B1 tablet for the kids, it went faulty after a couple of months, one side of the tablet does not respond/work at all, so i am about to return it to acer uk to have it repaired, the only catch is if it turns out to be software related, i will get charged £71.50 for the repair, the tablet only cost £100 new, so obviously i dont want to be paying 70 notes for a repair on it, its only been used to download and play games on, i have tried the reset button ( the little pin hole button on the side ) and also tried to do a factory reset, which it has done, but as i cant use half of the screen, i cant select the language to get it going again :S

any advice before i send it back, does it sound software related? i'm presuming not, but then i'm not that clued up with computers!

cheers

doesn't sound like software to me imo.

just rang acer, they have said it doesn't sound like a software issue, and they will find the fault, repair it if under warranty or contact me 1st before they do any chargable repairs, thats the main job, didn't want a 70 quid bill, cheers
