Rev counter not working

Hi,

Recently took out my standard MK1 dash and replaced it with a Williams one as it had a rev counter whereas my original one doesn't. I fitted it and turned the ignition and the other dials work e.g. Oil level etc. but not the rev counter.

Is there anything I should check to get it to work?

im no mechanic but if theres no rev counter originally then just changing the dials wouldnt work?

i think all the mk1 worked by swaping them but you need to get the same PH's
what PH is yours?

It's a 97 so pretty sure it's a PH1, correct me if I'm wrong though.

How can I find out easily? Or is it definitely a PH3 if it's a 97?

its definitely a ph3.
the ph3 came with more rounded headlamps.

Don't know what to do really, mine's done 53k miles and the clock with the rev counter has done 120k so for me it feels like it's lost a part of it.
I was thinking about fitting a speedo with a shift light. Any ideas?

Right, having trouble understanding how to actually fit the rev counter. I don't know where the wire from the coilpack is, I understand it's pink but I don't know which one it is?
