Revs dropping on start up

I have a 1.2 16v 53plate clio. When i start the engine from cold the revs usually sit at around 1000rpm until the engine gets up to temp. when i started the car today the revs kept dropping to below 500rpm and nearly stalling. I had to press the throttle to bring the revs back up but the throttle was slow to respond. this problem goes away after a couple of minutes when the engine comes up to temp. my engine warning light has also come on.

Throttle body gunked up is the most likely cause of the poor idle responce but the MIL on could be linked. Start by removing it and giving it a bloody good clean and see if that sorts it though I suspect as the MIL is on the car will need the fault codes reading and clearing.
