revs "hunting" at idle

  172Cup
Now then :)

I've just had a new throttle sensor fitted, I was told this is a complete pedal assenbly box due to it being fly by wire

At idle, the revs are now rising and falling.... anywhere between its true idle (about 900 revs, give or take a rev) and 1400/1500 revs.

the people who fitted the new sensor had it back today, hooked it up to the diagnostics and it's come back clean for any faults. Does this mean the actual new part could be faulty?

The car has had a re-map done, the previous owner must have had it done and he didn't tell me when I bought it (i only found out when I took it to a renault dealers 2 weeks ago and they told me it's got a re-map on it) could the re-map be causing the problems?

cheers

:D

has the new part been configured in? only ask because i work for peugeot, and most bits with actuators in need to be configured when they are changed, so that the car knows the reference values for open, closed etc. etc.

most garage scanners wont go into half the depth that a manufacturers one will, for example pug one can configure every part of the car, rather than just read OBD codes

I had same prob - replaced pedal assembly - but fault returned - within a day

check the connector on the pedal assembly - fiddled with mine n has been fine ever since - just replugged n made sure it was all good - just get your head down where the pedals are n you will see it - got to be worth a try (i dont think it needed replacement - but sorted now ayway)

mine is remaped - about 2 years earlier so dont think its an issue

ahh right, cheers !

I took it back to the garage that fitted the new pedal box, they have hooked it back up to their diagnostic machine and said it has come up clean with no fault codes showing... they say they have tried cleaning various other things and can't find what's causing the problem.

They've also said they reset the factory settings for the pedal and it took them ok? not really sure what they mean by this as i'm no mechanic at all.

maybe i need to take it to a Renault garage then :(

would I need perhaps a new idle control valve? as per the other topic? is the idle control vavle a part of the new pedal box i've just had fitted? and it it's not and it's seperate, would it show up on a diagnostic check if it was faulty?

cheers
