Revs hunting

  182
Hi fitted the fatty induction kit and ever since in morning it hunts from 1500 to 2000 rpm when idle after bout 3 min of driving it stops. I pulled the carbon canister pipes off which were on the old air box. Any ideas

Everything fitted properly, elbow on the throttle body ok?

Might be cleaning the throttle body too which you can do on and off the car.

One to airbox but reading on here there is another smaller breather pipe which can cause it to rev high apparently

One from airbox to top of canister I removed. But apparently there a smaller pipe which goes to the canister which needs to be blocked off

Carbon cannister is drivers side, acoustic valve is passengers side.

Without sounding like a t**t, im unsure what you have done.

I very much doubt its down to the fatty bend.

Acoustic valve that's the one, my bad I been at work a lot today lol. The one under passenger headlight well area. Reckon it's just s**t pipe connection ? My bad guys.

I might try new metal pipe and samco hose

Ok so that's that bit cleared up!

Right, so you have removed the acoustic valve, and you've blocked up the pipe that goes from the inlet down to the acoustic valve?

It needs to be blocked up otherwise it'll create an air leak, meaning high revs. Put a bolt in the end to block it up. I did this a while back. (Its a bit different now as ive removed the Carbon cannister and looped the inlet pipes)

So pull that off and remove that pipe. Do I need to block it inlet side? So let the inlet vent out. And just block that pipe?

No, dont remove it, just block the pipe. I cut mine down and bolted it up, like in the pic as i didn't want a big pipe dangling down and this looked neater.

Keep it connected to the inlet but block it up so no air leak will occur.

I'll cut it stubby and wack some silicone in the end. Thanks mate I'll try at lunch tomorrow and I'll see how it is Thursday morning mate I may be back ;) haha thanks mate. You got fatty kit fitted?

You know, ive never checked mine.
I didnt do anything like this when i fitted the fatty kit. Im not getting high revs though.

Is you acoustic valve removed? Its not essential to have it removed when fitting the fatty IK but it is essential to block the inlet pipe if it is removed, otherwise you'll get high revs/air leak.

If air was leaking into the inlet manifold the revs would stay at 3k rpm, the fact it hunts for revs than settles down tells me it's not leaking.

Yes i agree. Im just helping OP.

My guess its a dirty throttle body.

@BuCkLeY... When you get a chance, take the throttle body off and give it a good clean. Get some brake cleaner around and inside it and give it a thorough clean, including the "O" ring. I bet that be closer to your issue.

Ah right. No, ive not removed it.
Benefits?

Its a EU thing to keep noise decibels down i believe. Its not needed and makes more space/less weight!

  Clio 172 phase 1
Sorry for old thread revival but is there any ways to sort this problem on a mk 2 phase 1. I changed icv and now car hunts. Seems to get better when warmed up though
