Revving higher when clutch is pressed (Lag 2.0T)

When changing gear while accelerating fast, when I press the clutch down the car revs higher, as if I haven't taken my foot off the accelerator properly, or as if the throttle by wire is very laggy. Is this a problem or just the way they are?

Also what are the common causes of low mpg on these engines if anybody knows?

That could be the clutch slipping mate. So maybe it needs a new clutch or the pressure plate tightening.

f**king hope not mate! Think clutch is ok, doesn't have the normal symptom of slipping when under load.
