rewiring switchgear

I want to fit some 182 switches (E/W and RVM controls) to my ph1 172 but the wiring blocks are different. Is it possible to rewire these?

Do you have any wiring from the new blocks? If soi you could wire it up using that. Whats RVM mean?

Whoops, I meant WM (wing mirrors) not RVM (rear view mirror).

Been told I'll need a whole new loom. I was hoping I could swop like for like cables over into the newer blocks????

John, I don't have the parts yet as I don't want to buy them if they aren't going to fit/work.

A new loom would have its advantages!! Apart from the cost of it! If you're handy with the soldering iron then I dont see why they wouldnt work but I dont know of any straight forward adaptor

I don't see why not. I would get the wiring diagram for the ph1 172 and also for the 182 switches. Compare the diagrams and solong as your confident set about butchering the wiring to suit the new switches. :evil:

All you need is electrical knowledge. What current will run through the motors, get appropriate switching circuit (relays or transistors, 1st would be easiest)
