would this mean the cat is gone? bad mpg too. have had it on the computer and nothing has shown up :S

Is it only on start up? Or when the car's hot after a long run?

If it's only when cold then that'll just be because it runs rich till it's warmed up.

Otherwise, could be lambda sensor going?

sounds like a faulty lambda sensor to me especially if your mpg is down
