Right . . . now im worried!

  Porsche Boxster987S
As ive been asking about my car and its bhp since i got it , ive been paranoid it was giving out less than it should. Well tonight im almost convinced theres something wrong. The reason being when i got in the car to come home from work and turned it on etc , i went to put the accelerator down and noticed it made under 2000revs. :S odd i thought , so i then tried to rev it right up and for over a minute i could not get the revs to go over 3000.

Could someone please tell me if they have had similar problems or have any ideas what it is because i dont think it should be doing that.:dapprove:

If the car was cold it was protecting itself from engine damage, warm it up before seeing what it'll rev to.

If that doesnae work it means your cars gone into limp mode.

sounds like one of the sensors is playing up - i had two replaced iirc.. one of them was the oxygen sensor... same type of symptoms

when my car went into limp mode, it turned out to be a internal TB fault, common ive heard;) once thats fixed mate, take it to a rolling road to put your mind at rest, start from there;)

Just sounds to me like the engine was cold so it was limiting the revs, which they all do.

But what do I know? Not a lot!

limp mode, buy a replacment throttle body from ebay and try that 1st before going to reno, as they'll charge you £80 just to plug it in.

ive got a good friend at renault who will hopefully help me. (free of charge)

i had parked the car at 4pm today and didnt get back in till 9pm. i assume it will be cold at that point. when it comes to under the bonnet of a motor im useless.

get someone who knows what there doing to check it matey,it could be one of a hundred common things and you could find yourself spending ££££££ and not fixing it, if your mate can get a fault code reader on it then do that see what fault comes up :)

get a local garage to plug it in limp mode could be about 20 things, when mine did this it was the pedal potentionmeter

you can still rev the nuts off of it in limp mode, just not whil it is in gear.

If you can rev to the line in neutral then its not limp mode
