Rip-off Ripspeed

I know ripspeed is exspensive but this is taking the p**. I went to look at the KdC-m7024 kenwood headunit. It was £380. I just ordered that same unit for £220 from bass-junkies.com . sam

lol! I know!

I bought my Alpine MP3 player from Bass Junkies for £250 and my mate bought the CD equivelent with his staff discount from Halfords for the same price! hah!

thing is some people are daft enough to pay silly ripspeed prices

they will continue to make serious money until everyone decides not to go there

the more the internet based shops start to open local shops the better

i work for Motor World and i know for a fact we are not the cheapest on a lot of ICE, we cant compete with the online places......however....if they were to open a shop next door or locally i am allowed to price match as long as were making a profit on it.....

we will always have the selling point of its an easy come back if its faulty, but the online places are gettin better now and a lot are selling brand new stock which a few years ago wasnt the case.....and there gettin a lot nicer about stuff sent back......i think in a year or so our prices will have to come down a lot because a lot of online shops are now opening actual real shops....

i love the way you lot diss ripspeed,

think about it logically, my branch for example in brighton,

how can a huge store like ourselves, with huge overheads, a lot of staff, compete with internet based companies such as bass junkies which are run probably from small premesis up north where there overheads are much less than ours, they pay less rent, less to there staff etc etc

our main customer base is not mid/high end audio, its the regular family people who just want a cd player of somesort in their family car.

and also, how many online dealers can you into and play around with the units and have a chat with the staff about them???

you lot need to look deeper than just the service, i used to think the same before working for halfords, but since then i have realised how much work goes into it behind the scenes.

bad example using bass junkies, they have 3 shops in the midlands one of them quite large, and at least 20+ staff. the internet stuff came after they started their business. but i can see what you are saying some internet companies dont have the overheads of large national stores like halfords etc.

Although i work for halfords and found that we make an average of 100% profit on the goods we sell!!

lol which halfords branch do u work in! Im a specialist in the cardiff store and our mark-up is 60% on average. but like adam said, halfords spend a fortune on staff and all that kinda sh*t...how many of u lot have been into halfords and had a chat with the ripspeed boys while f**kin about with the stereos and I know this may not be the case with all of u but who do u come running to when it all goes pete-tong :p

agree with david, lol!

were the first place that people come to when their units they have bought online have gone wrong or need a new loom or something!

most halfords stock ISO looms for pretty much every UK market car available, how many "online" retailers can say that?

Agree with Bryan, to be fair everyone slates halfords but theyre not too bad, have most gear you need and have a price match thing on parts (even against trade)

I buy most of my ice stuff from http://www.mcs-direct.co.ukwww.mcs-direct.co.uk as Halfords and any other shop prices take the piss.

Halford is still a great place for all your parts. Wires, fuses, adapters, cleaning products, bulbs, spark plugs, haynes manuals, batteries, spring clamps, etc. They do have great deals on wheels at the mo. 20% of all packages 17 and above. At the end of the day you cant expect a shop to give you trade prices.

Halfords and great. O and lets not forget your local Motor Factors.
