Road tar - Tyres

-J-

  RS2'ed 172 Cup
This morning I thought there was something majorly wrong with my car whilst driving to work.

Every time I turned right there was a very loud knocking from the nearside front, so bad that I could feel it through the car.

Up on inspection I have somehow picked up a MASSIVE lump of road tar which is now stuck all over the inside of the Bumper, All over the wheel arch and a big lump pread all over the Tyre

Whats the safest way to remove the Tar from the Tyre, I would imagine AG Tar remover / Tardis will shift it if I scrape back the excess (Its about 1cm thick, by 15cm long by 10cm wide), but can I use this on the Tyre?

Yeah that'll be fine on the tyre but tbh if it's that big just pick it off.

Tardis is for spots of Tar not clumps, it'll soften it but it won't "dissolve" large lumps of tar.

On and Tardis is the onlt decnt tar remover imo. The rest I find are like water.

Tardis is the only decent Tar Remover, I agree. AG ITR is like pisch.

Gally, Ill pick off what I can yes, But this is everywhere! Ive done about 10 miles since picking it up and its not shifted LOL

While Tardis will not melt the entire block of tar, it will dissolve the bonds attaching it to the tyre/wheel/bodywork/archliner, thus allowing you to remove it.

Awaits the 'I broke my gearbox' thread. Lol.

The fronts will clear themselves with some 'spirited' driving. As soon as the tar gets warm, basically.

Nasty, I could get it off in 2 seconds.

Hammer and chisel to take the worst of it off, you're hardly going to damage anything bar yourself.

Then get out round some roundabouts.

Went out at lunch round some roundabouts, The Tar flaps off and bounces off the bumper then sticks back to the tyre... gonna get my scraper out when i get home, either that or use the Mrs Spatula from the kitchen:evil:

If I had the Arch Gap of Gallys Puma I would have been alright and not ended up with Tar on the Bumper ;)

The tar would be on your front bumper as you'd be chasing the Puma's arse everywhere.
