I'd tend to agree with that.. They are completely different with their own merits.. From the passenger seat..:
The BMW has more toys more comfortable and doesn't feel lifeless low down like the standard Clio did.
it has instant power that certainly kicks you in the arse when you floor it.. A lovely straight 6 sound which, at times, you barely know is even running.. And of course rwd.. So potential to be a bit tail happy!
It's certainly a really nice place to be looks smart and I suppose you have a better 'magnet' in the BMW..
Dodgy sunglasses and a Bluetooth headset are optional extras as are the indicators..but parking like a **** is mandatory and in the owners handbook..
The one obvious fault I would say with the BMW so far is its SO smooth it obviously it doesn't seem as nimble and involved..
the Clio was just a scream and you instantly forget about its rattles and niggles because it is just so good at going round corners..! My 300bhp S3 had nothing on my 182.. The S3 was bloody fast but If I had the two again for a track day or a blast round some back roads in Wales I'd always pick up the keys to the 182 for the fun factor..
The Clio in terms of ££££s per grin is incredible..but I couldn't own another one unless it was a track toy..cause for a daily I would throw more money at it to make it look like my old one and it would be a constant reminder of the smash..
I'm guessing my old Clio would probably have been faster too but I don't know yet as I've only driven the bmw myself off my drive once or twice around 5mph to move it..
I'm still not well enough to drive properly but il let you know as I know there are a few people who are wondering how these two stack up..!
I should know tonight when I can drive again
