Roll on next week!!!

It's finally time, i am buying my first clio! :D I've waited months to get some money together and by next wednesday i'll be getting a new car. YEY!!

I went to look at a 1.2 black clio today which was beautiful and in perfect condition but the mileage was something like 56,000! Would you say that is acceptable for £2999? I really wanted a 1.4 but there seems to be none in my area:( Opinions would be appreciated x

Hmm that's what we thought. I'm so excited to get a new car i'm having to stop myself from buying the first car i see. What would you say is a reasonable mileage? I've been looking around a few garages and on autotrader but nothing catches my eye at the minute.

Yreg, was it the newer shape one with the triangular headlights? or the older one with the round ones??

Yreg was the switch over point (July to be specific)

whats your budget?

whatever you do then don't go to Benfield Renault!

have a search on www.autotrader.co.uk loads of them on there, you'll get one for £3K

don't let mileage put you off, they're a strong engine and parts are cheap, there only let down is the electronics (but not hard to sort)

Tbh Y reg, 56k, HPI clear for 3k in mint condition, in black is not over priced.

Ignore LegoHeads comment about £1000. He's either getting confused or talking about mk1s which are entirely irrelvant.

Do have a look at a few though. Also look at the sort of people selling them. I know it isn't too PC but I think there's a far higher chance of it being a better car if it comes from an older person with a little more money.

Good luck anyway!

I sold my 2001 1.2 Expression on 59.5k for £2700 private, a dynamique is worth a little more but I wanted mine gone. If its mint and black its right on the money.
It is worth noting that the cambelt is due after 5yrs or 72k, it cost me £300 inc water pump at a specialist so worth negotiating if it hasn't been done.
Always hpi it too as there are alot of dodgy ones out there.

i dont know if there is an arnold clark round your way but take a very large detour around them, the cars are cheap for a reason!

its a pitty 3k is the max, that is like entry level for the m2 ph2, so y reg with average mileage for that age, about 50+k. if you want a newer low mileage one then you are looking at an authentique or expression, both those are the entry models (epression is the authentique + sunroof). and they look it sat next to an extreme or dynamique ( i think its lowest spec to highest- authentique, expression, extreme, dynamique (plus and billabong), privelage then the sports, but i could be wrong.
another wee tip is onthe door i think that if it says 1.2 not 16v, then its the 8v engine which is cheaper to insure, but they are kinda rare. if you can wait off untill september because thats when the new reges come and the dealers have all the trade ins clogging up the forecourts, and prices should drop a little then too.

if it was one of the newer ones (mk2 ph2) that really is not exspensive for the mileage!!

originally when buying mine, i really wanted a black 1.4, but couldnt find one, so i had to settle with my 1.2

dont regret it though, they are great cars
